Online Hiring Trend in SMBs: Elance

A survey by Elance in which 500 companies participated showed that 87 percent of the respondents were interested in offsite hiring as it cuts the need to pay for phones, computers for new hires and office space.

According to a Elance survey on small and medium sized businesses which recruit online contractors, many companies are using freelance talent because of its flexibility and affordability. 87 percent of the people who participated in the survey feel that outside talent is the way to increase their competitiveness and profitability.

The survey also found that 87 percent were not having to provide an office and other facilities, 82 percent felt that filling staff needs a market place.

64 percent of those who were surveyed expressed that they preferred online hiring than in person, but 24 percent preferred in person hiring. 64 percent of them expressed that they would continue to use a hybrid hiring which includes bringing in both in-house workers and also remote ones. 17 percent of them expressed that they would only go for online hiring, but just 2 percent expressed that they would only go for in house hiring.
