The other method of testing the drug is by hair follicle. The drug traces can be traced by hair testing for up to 90 days after consumption. The compound of marijuana gets deposited in the hair shaft and hence it can be detected even after a long time of drug use. Marijuana drug tests are done only to detect the presence of drug in the individual. These tests do not determine how much amount of drug was taken and when the drug was taken.

Marijuana can be detected in an individual during certain time periods. The amount of drug taken by a person also varies with the time period as to how long it can be detected. If the drug is consumed by a person only once, then detection of the drug by urine test can be done for 48 to 72 hours after usage. However, if the drug is consumed by a person is chronic or habitual, then the drug can be detected for up to 12 weeks after drug use. This depends on factors such as duration, quantity, and frequency of drug usage.
