Traditional metal-wired braces are made of stainless steel which require ties to hold the arch wire in place, and newer self-tying brackets which reduce friction between the wire and the lot of the bracket.

“Clear” braces are an alternative to traditional metal braces which cover the teeth. These brackets are made of ceramic or plastic materials but these braces are more brittle than metal braces.

Gold-plated stainless steel braces are often used for patients who are allergic to nickel but some people simply prefer to choose look of gold over the traditional silver-colored braces.

Lingual braces are the invisible braces in which brackets are cemented onto the backside of the teeth making them invisible to other people.

Titanium braces are like stainless steel braces but are lighter than them (though equal in strength). But these are more expensive than stainless steel braces.

Invisible braces, lingual braces, in man aligner braces are some of the methods for obtaining faster treatment to straighten the teeth. They are made of clear plastic or tooth colored ceramic to remain virtually invisible and they come under the group of progressive, clear, removable aligners.

Spring aligners are also an option which are less expensive and are used in less difficult cases. They align primarily the front six top and bottom teeth.

The latest ones are the smart braces which are used to reduce the duration of orthodontic therapy, and the related costs and discomfort to the individual.

A-Braces are also the latest ones and can be self-controlled by the user while adjusting the braces.

Every type of brace has its own application in treating the dental alignment problems, hence, as per the requirement the suitable braces can be used.
