Know How to Dispose Glow Sticks

Wherever you go for a party these days, you see people enjoying with glow sticks. A glow stick is a plastic tube having certain chemicals that are separated by a glass tube. When you bend the tube, the glass vial inside it breaks mixing the two chemicals. Upon shaking the tube well, the chemicals react with each other and give a glow. You can see glow sticks with different colors like orange, yellow, green, pink, white, purple, red and blue as specific fluorescent dyes are added to it. Though the glow sticks include chemicals, it is very safe to use them. However, after using, they have to be disposed carefully. It is not only important to know proper way of using a glow stick. You should also know how to dispose it.

If a glow stick is punctured, the chemicals present in it may cause minor irritation for eyes and skin. Though it is not much harmful, you need to be careful when disposing the glow sticks. Check if there are any leaks or punctures in your glow sticks, glow necklaces or glow bracelets. If you do not find any leaks, then throw them in the garbage. But, if you find any leaks in them, then you should seal them in a plastic bag and then throw in the garbage. Also check if there are any glass pieces fallen on the floor or your clothes while using. It may seem simple to dispose the glow sticks. However, a little care taken while disposing may prevent you from any harmful irritations and problems.
